In folk medicine, celery is most commonly used for cleansing the body (especially blood), strengthening the nerves and as a cure for diseases of the bladder because it stimulates the urine secretion.
Celery also purifies the liver, lowers sugar and blood pressure. It contains very few calories, so it’s a useful food during diets.
It is the most useful if eaten raw and is not recommended for people with diseased kidneys and pregnant women.

Celery treats many diseases.
Recipes of a Russian doctor of alternative medicine:
Pour a glass (200 ml) of cold water on 2 tablespoons finely chopped celery root. Leave it for 2 hours. Drink 1/3 cup 3 times a day for 15-20 minutes before meals.
- Inflammatory skin diseases (purulent wounds …)
Pour vinegar on half a cup of celery leaves, and add 1/2 tablespoons salt. Apply it on inflamed and painful areas.
Pour 1 liter of boiling water on 40 g celery root, cover it with a saucer and leave it for 8 hours. Take 2 tablespoons 3 times a day, 15 minutes before meals.
- Nervousness, insomnia
Take a fresh celery juice, 1-2 teaspoons 3 times a day, 20 minutes before meals.
- Osteoporosis, back pain, arthritis, arthrosis
Wash 1 kg of celery with leaves, and grind it in a meat grinder. Grind three lemons with the peel. Mix all and leave in a dark place for 7 days.
Afterwards, strain, add 300 g of honey, leave it in the fridge. Drink per 1 tablespoon, 3 times daily before meals. You will forget about the pain after the consumption of 2 doses.
- Cystitis, Pyelonephritis
Pour 200 ml of water on 1 teaspoon celery seed, add honey for taste. Stir and drink 2 tablespoons 3 times a day, 30 minutes before meals.
- Celery tea for rheumatism:
Boil 1/2 l of water, then, add 20 grams of celery leaves, cover and let it boil for 2-3 minutes. Remove from the heat and leave it covered to cool.
Strain it and drink it during the day. For the treatment of rheumatism, it is advisable to drink 4 cups of the celery tea daily, for a period of 4-6 weeks.
- Regular use of celery in the diet can prevent the development of kidney stones, but also in the gallbladder.
From the above we see that celery should be used in the daily diet as much as possible because it has a beneficial effect on: kidneys, stomach, intestines, muscles, blood vessels and the immune system.
Celery cannot of course be the main treatment for the disease, but it can be very useful in preventing disease and as an adjunct therapy.
